IPS scales to handle your toughest reliability problems. We routinely deploy engineers, technicians, and technologies from across our network, responding to unplanned downtime or working within scheduled outages.

Complete in-shop remanufacturing

As part of IPS, the former EMSL locations in Edmonton, Fort McMurray, and Calgary now offer expanded services. These include testing, service, repair, and remanufacturing for electrical motors and generators, rotating equipment, and power distribution equipment. These capabilities include:
  • Complete electrical testing
  • PDMA analysis
  • Industrial motor repair through 80,000+ HP/15,000 VAC kV and 10,000HP/1000HP VDC
  • Vibration analysis
  • Dynamic balancing up to 80,000 lbs (36,287 kg)
  • Laser alignment
  • Dedicated small motor repair up to 690 VAC
IPS redesigns and rewinds electric motors and generators for increased efficiency or power density. We also complete frequency conversions, speed change rewinds, inverter-duty conversions, and voltage changes.

Complete services for water and wastewater pumps

IPS adds to EMSL pump services for industrial and commercial applications. As part of IPS, the former EMSL locations offer more pump testing, maintenance, and repair, plus faster replacement.

IPS also provides troubleshooting, design, and reverse engineering. We specialize in remanufacturing obsolete pumps no longer supported by the OEM. Our engineers and technicians have the industry-specific experience you prefer, with lifecycle management for a wide range of pumps, including:

  • Reciprocating — Bladder, diaphragm, and piston/plunger
  • Rotary — Gear/screw, rotary lobe/vane, and progressive cavity
  • Centrifugal — Axial, radial, and mixed flow
  • Submersible electric
  • Vertical turbine
  • Split case
  • End suction

IPS in-shop pump services include shaft and impeller repair for small pumps to pumps over 420,000 GPM (1,588,837 liters). We also handle blasting, coating, balancing, and parts manufacturing. Our pump component manufacturing includes shafts, shaft sleeves, impellers, bearing housings, and couplings.

IPS field service technicians, working closely with our engineers, detect early-stage identification of failure modes, using flow testing and vibration analysis. We can help your maintenance department transition to predictive and preventive service, to prevent or reduce unplanned downtime.

20,000+ rewinds with zero failures

IPS offers a complete portfolio of global VPI and B-stage hard coil rewinds for electric motors and generators. Our premium rewinds power over 20,000 high- and medium-voltage motors, running in harsh industrial environments with zero failures.

We engineer our premium rewinds to deliver better-than-new performance and back them with industry-leading warranties.

IPS engineered solutions for oil and gas

IPS partners with companies in the drilling, pipeline, and refinery industries, collaborating with plant reliability, mechanical, and electrical engineers. Our single-source capabilities streamline their vendor management, with in-shop remanufacturing, technical field services, distribution, and asset storage.

We engineer solutions for motors, generators, power distribution, and rotating equipment — including pumps, gearboxes, fans, compressors, and blowers. As a master distributor, we replace low-, medium-, and high-voltage motors, bundling replacements with engineering, equipment removal, and installation.

Single-source capabilities for surface mining and aggregates

IPS services, repairs, remanufactures, and replaces mining motors and generators, rotating equipment, and power distribution equipment. Our engineers and technicians work closely with reliability engineers, maintenance managers, and planners.

We provide testing, repair, rebuilds, reconditioning, and remanufacturing for electric motors used in every surface mining application. Our services include:

  • Installed base evaluations
  • Conveyor belt maintenance and troubleshooting
  • AC dragline upgrades
  • OHV insulation system upgrades
  • Rotating equipment solutions
  • Pump maintenance and repair
  • Dodge CST and TXT exchange units

The IPS network provides 24/7 response, with critical spares delivery, installation, and alignment.

Services for utility-scale renewable energy power generation

IPS reliability solutions help operators in wind power, hydro power, and geothermal power meet their run-time commitments and reduce kWh costs.

We support wind turbine fleets during warranty and after warranty, handling generators, motors, rotating equipment, and power distribution. Our wind technicians and engineers solve reliability problems in the nacelle, at the tower base, and in the substation.

IPS turnkey hydro services cover design upgrades, inspections, testing, repairs, and parts. IPS acquired ABB’s US and Canadian hydro generator rewind business in 2022. Today, our hydro services are lead by a team of former GE and ABB Hydro Services experts.

We support geothermal power plants with complete technical field services and in-shop remanufacturing. Our renewables team services production well motors, generators, rotating equipment, and power distribution assets, including transformers.

We specialize in engineering for the application and extending service life, including motors running above nameplate speed.

A master distributor with deep inventories

IPS is a master distributor for key OEMs. We have national, regional, and local inventories, plus a network of surplus and used equipment suppliers.

IPS has what you need in stock, or we’ll find it — including all OEM equipment available from EMSL.

In addition to our new product sales and exchange unit programs, we buy used and surplus equipment. Our distribution services provide additional sourcing and timing flexibility:

  • Design, manufacturing, assembly, modification, and fabrication
  • Short production runs of replacement parts
  • Fleet-level motor modifications
