After graduating From the University of Houston in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Sean started his career as a Field Engineer for Emerson’s Automation Solution branch. Sean spent four years managing projects from control upgrades to process tuning across North America predominately working in fossil generation facilities. Sean started with IPS in 2019 as an Electrical Engineer to support the Houston service center and assist in regional projects, production management and field service.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERTISE
Sean’s knowledge consists of but are not limited to Controls Theory: Design and tuning, Distributed Control Systems Design, Fossil Generation Balance of Plant, PLCs, Synchronous Excitation, Control Wheel Design, VFD application and tuning, Electrical Machinery design and troubleshooting, Root Cause Failure Analysis, High voltage insulation design and testing.
Sean received his Engineer in Training certification from the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors in May of this year and is working towards professional engineering licensure.
CURRENT WORK PROJECTS & ACTIVITY STREAMS
Sean oversees the Synchronous Control Wheel department at IPS’s La Porte Service Center and works to improve the standard work procedures and repair processes in the winding department. He also provides training, on-site consultation for controls and partial discharge testing and repair.
Outside of work, Sean races amateur autocross.
