Custom switchgear solutions

CE engineers and manufactures switchgear solutions to specification — low- and medium-voltage, metal-clad, and metal-enclosed switchgear. We design for maximum functionality of circuit breakers, ease of maintenance, and reliable circuit protection.

IPS Custom Equipment-manufactured switchgear meets all applicable ANSI, IEEE, and NEMA standards. Our traditional and arc-resistant switchgear technology offers easy access and maintenance in a space-saving package.

Low-voltage switchgear

Our low-voltage, metal-enclosed, draw-out, and fixed breaker switchgear provides superior electrical distribution, protection, and power quality management for entire facilities. We work with the smallest footprint available for low-voltage switchgear.

Medium-voltage switchgear

CE provides a medium-voltage ANSI switchgear product line, including breakers and structures from Eaton, Hitachi, Schneider, and Siemens.

Prime components include:

  • Standard or custom structures meet all requirements
  • Equipment ratings available
    • 5 kV to 38 kV, with up to 200kA interrupt rating
    • Complete line of arc-resistant equipment
  • Compartment concept used with grounded metal barriers to segregate primary functions with no live parts exposed
  • Standard safety interlocks, closed-door racking and storage, breaker position indicator, and positively actuated safety shutters
  • All functional units (incoming line, mains, feeders, bus-tie, and auxiliary units) available for flexible system planning

Metal clad switchgear

  • Available in maximum voltage ratings from 4.76 kV through 38 kV, and interrupting ratings up to 200kA
  • Total design concept of cell, breaker, and auxiliary equipment
    • Assembled in combinations for application requirements
  • Two-high breaker arrangements standard up to 15 kV
    • Available one-high breaker arrangement

Metal enclosed switchgear

  • Engineered for applications that require low-duty cycle
    • Cost-effective alternative to traditional load interrupter switchgear (load break switch or LBS), designed to industry standards for quality and low-price option
  • Switches available in 5 kV to 38 kV in 40kA and 61kA ratings
  • Provides overcurrent protection
    • Increased system protection and coordination for applications that don’t require metal-clad switchgear, and when a switch or switch and fuse combination are unsuitable
  • All protective devices and metering conveniently mounted on switchgear structure door
  • Indoor and outdoor non-walk-in enclosures
  • For single or multiple circuits, transformer primaries, and mains for medium-voltage switchgear applications
  • Draw-out vacuum breakers are ideal for high duty cycles and applications requiring a rapid return to service after a load fault

Note:  Vacuum switchgear meets or exceeds the following industry standards: ANSI/IEEE C37.20.3, C37.20.4, C37.22, C37.57, C37.58. Custom or matching line metal-clad switchgear designed and tested to IEEE C37.20.2 for medium voltage and IEEE C37.20.1 for low voltage.

CE Motor control centers

Custom Equipment has extensive experience with designing custom motor control centers. We engineer and manufacture this equipment for amusement parks, line production, aggregates, and mining.

Custom switchboards and panelboards

CE builds highly engineered, easy to install switchboards. Our design simplifies wiring and reduces material requirements, for more efficient maintenance.

Our engineers use space-saving design with modular construction and increased systems ratings, for economical, reliable power distribution and protection. We offer metering options for power measurement and power quality.

Electronic trip units ensure improved accuracy and reliable protection. Other features and benefits include:

  • Convertible main breaker and main lug kits to switch from central lug to main breaker, and vice versa, with no change in enclosure size or additional cabling
